Children's books, Fiction Writing for adults & Poetry

'Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.’ - Roald Dahl

I have spent many years of my life teaching myself to use positive self-talk. I believe that if children are taught this skill from a young age, it will enable them to become more confident and self-assured adults. My aim with regards to children’s books is to help children find what we all have within us; magic and potential.

I also write fiction for adults. My short story ‘Running Mates’ made the shortlist in a competition run by Periscope Literary, along with a second short story ‘Pieces of Me’. This story was also published online on https://www.epoquepress.com/ezine-menace-fiona-gubbins

Through my Instagram poetry page and my stories, I hope that my words will leave an imprint on the hearts and minds of those who read them.

This writing journey is one I have dreamt of my whole life. I hope you will walk with me on this road.

Behind the scenes

I have learned so much during this daunting but enjoyable process.

Witnessing your characters come to life through the illustration process is so special. It is such a team effort for this to happen.

I was lucky enough to work with the very talented (and patient!) Dave Farrelly who is responsible for the beautiful illustrations and for bringing the 'magic' in Magical Me to life. Here is just a small sample of how the main character Sophie evolved.
